29 June 2024, at 11am till 2pm, the ground Floor of the Library and the Neighbourhood Office will be taken over by 35 third sector organisations, community groups and statutory bodies. So, if you want to know what is happening in your area or you need some help and advice, we know the people who will keep you informed. Pop along and meet the groups and organisation delivering a power of work in this area.
This event is part of a broader effort to bring the community together and create a positive, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone. By providing a family-friendly alternative, we aim to change perceptions and show that Craigmillar can be a place of warmth, fun, and unity. With activities like a woodland light show, campfire-themed food, and peaceful entertainment, we hope to rebuild the reputation of our community and offer a new way for families to celebrate safely.We invite you to be part of this positive change and enjoy this event.

A big thank you to third sector, community and statutory partners for making the time to attendthe Know Your Neighbourhood Event held recently in the Craigmillar Library. In total 28+organisations set up camp and although the community turn out was much lower that expected,partners have been generous with their feedback to improve the event in May 2025.

The Mixed Tenure Improvement Service (are looking to engage with residents in the Magdalenearea. Specifically, the work will focus on the tenement blocks and the team are looking to set updrop-in sessions with residents, tenants and private landlords. The MTIS Team will be invited tothe next meeting of the Magdalene Neighbourhood Group to provide an introduction and projecttimeline as well as answering stakeholders’ questions. In addition, there will be a newsletterproduced keeping the community aware of changes and a case officer team will be engagingwith residents affected.

The recent Know Your Own Neighbourhood held on Saturday 29 June in the Library saw 28 third sector, community groups and statutory bodies engage with the Greater Craigmillar community.  ;Turn out could have been better and organisers will review the partner feedback and adjust the event in 2025.  ;Those who did attend enjoyed the opportunity to speak to local service providers on a wide variety of topics.  ;In addition, organisations took the chance to network with each other and its hopeful some good collaborative work comes from these tentative discussion.
